The tradition of the literary café
From the Café Procope, created in 1686 in Paris – frequented by Voltaire, Rousseau, Fontenelle, Beaumarchais and Diderot – to the Café de Flore, passing through L'Alcazar, the Cabaret du Chat Noir, the Closerie des Lilas, the Rotonde and the Dôme – where Modigliani, Apollinaire, Trotsky, Picasso, Darain, Vlaminck, etc. met – the literary café is a universe of culture and exchange.
In almost seven years of existence—including two Covid years!—the Gazette Café has hosted more than 1,500 conferences/meetings and some 1,200 shows and concerts, giving a serious boost to emerging local artists.
Walls with a soul
At the very beginning, the idea was to transform a Peugeot car garage and gay sauna into a temple of culture and healthy food. A new kind of literary café-bar-restaurant-concert venue.
An original initiative carried out with the support of the weekly news and leisure magazine La Gazette de Montpellier, renowned in particular for its events calendar. Opened in April 2015, after thirteen months of renovations, the Gazette Café aimed to continue and enrich a three-century-old tradition in Montpellier: that of literary cafés. The fixed idea of its creators: to create connections.

For seminars, business meetings, training sessions, different spaces are dedicated to professionals.
In order to carry out all your projects, several rooms are available for reservation, each with a different capacity and equipment:
A room with 19 seats upstairs , air-conditioned, equipped with HD TV + HDMI socket, whiteboard.
A room with 80 seats for seminars, business meals and banquets.
A room with 120 seats , equipped with a stage, spotlights, sound system, video projector, giant screen.
